“The Journey” is a pianosuite for (very) advanced piano players that consists of three individually composed movements, about a lonely world traveller who finally decides, after months of travelling the continents (“Being Abroad”), and a clear moment on a far away pond (“Rowing on the Pond”), to go home (“Going Home”).
Almost 20 pages of appealing new piano music with a variousity of challenging techniques, for the (very) advanced pianist! Please feel free to scroll down on this webpage, there you will be able to listen to all three individual movements.
“The Journey”is een pianosuite in drie delen over een wereldreiziger die na vele omzwervingen over de continenten (“Being Abroad”), en een bedachtzaam moment ergens ver weg in een roeibootje op een prachtige vijver (“Rowing on the Pond”), besluit om eindelijk terug te keren naar huis (“Going Home”).
Met o.a. kettingtrillers, lang gebroken arpeggio’s in een rusteloos “allegro appassionato” tempo, lyrische twee tegen drie passages, herhalende patronen en enthousiaste links over rechts sprongen in flinke tempi. Bijna twintig pagina’s muzikale uitdaging voor de (zeer) gevorderde pianist!
